What are the positive and negative consequences of technology?

The Danish Board of Technology was once set up to assess and advise on the consequences of new technology for the parliament in Denmark. Every time we take on a new technology, whether it is genetic engineering, social media, or surveillance technology and all that in between, it can have both positive and negative consequences.
