DA4YOU Horizon 2020 – Communicatively impaired people also have a voice

Equal Democracy
Democracy relies on conversation and dialogue to a large extent. However, not everybody has an equal access to the public debate. Especially visually, hearing and cognitively impaired people encounter barriers. Consequently, there is a need for supporting these people on in raising their voice.
Strength and opportunities
The project DA4YOU aims to strengthen communicatively impaired people’s opportunities for participating in the public debate. In order to do this, the project partners develop and conduct courses for communicatively impaired people on communication tools, production of content, and rights and possibilities. In addition to this, the partners create an online portal that facilitates debates and contains resources for communicatively impaired people.
The role of The Danish Board of Technology is to evaluate the project focusing on empowerment.
To the extent that the project succeeds, the communicatively impaired people’s voice in the public debate is strengthened, and the debate becomes more nuanced.
